KENJUTSU
SWORDMANSHIP
An aggressive method of swordsmanship practiced by Japanese feudal warriors in which the combatants pitted naked blade against naked blade. Today, Kenjutsu is practiced chiefly in a form of kata and actual combat is staged only with the bokken (wooden sword). Kenjutsu is the art form which Kendo developed. New students are taught in a safe manner of how to use the bokken and then engage and train with other students here in the dojo.
Live samurai swords are not permitted on the mat. Training is done using 'shinai', a Japanese sword made from bamboo, which is specifically used in training practice.
Also, hard wood swords are used in training and development of strikes.

Japanese Martial Arts also has a dedicated first aid station, with 8 trained club members dedicated always for each martial arts style.
